The Ministry of Reconciliation
14 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15 and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Everybody wants to change their world. And while there are lots of beneficial ways we can help make our world a better place, if you want to change your world in a way that matters for eternity, there’s no better way to change your world than to join Jesus in His mission of redeeming the entire world!
How do we join Jesus on mission in our world?
In this sermon, we’ll see how the Gospel gives us three things to change our world:
New Motivation
- The Gospel gives us a new motivation to live for King Jesus.
New Perspective
- The Gospel changes how we see the world as we look to the New Creation.
New Assignment
- The Gospel gives us a new assignment as ambassadors on mission.
Takeaway: Change Your World through Mission
Do you want to change your world in a way that matters for eternity? God is, in Christ, reconciling all things to Himself, bringing in the New Creation where King Jesus will make all things new when He returns.
And we have the privilege and responsibility of being ambassadors of that coming reality. Everywhere we go, wherever we live, work, learn or play, we go as representatives of Jesus.

We feed our souls primarily through community, as we dig into God’s word with one another in our Communities. We grow in love primarily through service, as we give ourselves away in love for our church family. And we change our world primarily through mission, as we join Jesus in the work He’s doing in our world.
The Journey of a Lifetime connects the dots, coordinates our efforts, and gets us all pulling in the same direction. It’s fresh language for the ancient call of following Jesus. All that to say, this is more than a sermon series, it’s our way of describing what it means to follow Jesus here at The Moody Church.
So, let’s follow Jesus! What’s your next step?
